Das Evason Phuket heißt die “Best Asian Regatta 2011″ willkommen
18 06 2011Now in its eighth year, the award-winning Six Senses Phuket Raceweek 2011 will offer four days of international standard yacht racing off Phuket’s east coast combined with five nights of glittering parties and entertainment at the award-winning Evason Phuket & Bon Island resort in Rawai.
The regatta has just been voted ‘Best Asian Regatta 2011′ at the annual Asia Boating Awards in Hong Kong, only the second of Thailands six regattas to win the prestigious award.
Glamour meets competition on the glittering Andaman Sea
Six Senses Phuket Raceweek is a heady mix of competitive racing and legendary parties in ultra glamorous settings provided by one of Thailand leading luxury resorts. Evason Phuket & Bon Island, part of the Six Senses Resorts & Spas portfolio of properties, enjoys an idyllic location overlooking the Andaman Sea with 64 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds and accommodation to match.
The resort’s Into The Beach restaurant, now with acclaimed chef Thomas Jakobi at the helm, is one of the sparkling aprés race venues. The fine dining restaurant recently gained 10 out of 10 for food in a review by Thailand Tatler, the only restaurant in Phuket to have earned the accolade.

An impressive line-up of competitors
Among the leading entries confirmed for the event so far are five first-timers, led by David Ross’s brand new Ker 40 pure racing yacht, KukukKERchu, which will debut at Phuket Raceweek.
The well-known ‘yachting personality’, Dee Caffari will also be present. In 2006 Dee became the first woman to sail solo, non-stop, around the world against the prevailing winds and currents, and was awarded an MBE in recognition of her achievement.
Dee Caffari, an ambassador for Six Senses, competed in the 2008/9 Vendée Globe – a gruelling round-the-world race – crossing the finish line in 6th place out of an original fleet of 30 competitors. In June of the same year, Dee and an all-female crew went on to smash the mono-hull speed record around Britain and Ireland. Dee will race the 38ft Andaman Cabriolet catamaran, Niña, a yacht that won at Phuket Raceweek 2009.

Im Juli stellt der deutsche Starkoch Jens Jakob – von Michelin mit einem Stern und 16 Punkten ausgezeichnet – neuerlich sein Können im Evason Phuket & Bon Island Resort unter Beweis. Nach einem erfolgreichen Gastspiel im Januar nutzt Jakob, der in Saarbrücken das Le Noir betreibt, die sommerliche Restaurantschließzeit, um die Six Senses-Gäste in Phuket kulinarisch zu verwöhnen.
Von 19. Juli bis 2. August 2011 werden Kreationen rund um die thailändischen Meeresfrüchte auf der Karte stehen, zubereitet von Jens Jakob und seinem Sous-Chef, Peter Wirbel. Anlass genug für Hoteldirektor Frank Grassmann, allen Freunden des Le Noir noch bis zum 31. Oktober 2011 spezielle Zimmerpreise anzubieten, die sich – je nach Zimmerkategorie – zwischen umgerechnet 57 und 285 Euro pro Person und Nacht bewegen, Frühstücksbüffet inklusive.
Für alle Fans der Jakob’schen Küche liegt ein Besuch des Evason Phuket & Bon Island Resort im Juli nahe. Auf dem Programm steht ein Abend unter dem Motto „Seafood at the Lonely Island“ mit Gerichten im Stil spanischer Tapas, kreiert aus dem Besten, das die Andamanische See zu bieten hat, begleitet von einer Weinauswahl des Sommeliers. An einem weiteren Abend mit einem fantastischen Sechs-Gänge-Dinner im Gourmetrestaurant „Into the Sea“ wird sich Jakob heimischen Produkten und den Kräutern und Gemüse des organisch bewirtschafteten Hotelgartens widmen. Ebendort erklärt der durch die TV-Sendung „Kaffee oder Tee?“ bekannte Starkoch in einem Kochkurs einige seiner Gerichte, mit anschließendem Lunch und biodynamischen Weinen.
